Our installation and removal tools for the Module One are as precisely engineered as the bottom bracket itself, making the job easy and accurate, protecting your frame and bottom bracket, and ensuring your warranty is not voided.
The installation tool has the optimal pressing interface for the drive-side and a receiver for the non-drive-side which rests against your frame’s bottom bracket shell. The SN-Vitae Module One installation tools are intended to be combined with a press-fit installation tool.
The removal tool for the Module One provides the optimal pressing interface for the non-drive-side and the necessary receiving cup on the drive-side.
This Tool-set is for installing the Module One BB30, BB30A, BB86, BB86-C and BB92 bottom brackets.
What It Is
The Module One is a single-piece bottom bracket which completely solves creaking and reduces friction by mounting the drive-side and non-drive-side bearings in a lightweight aluminium casing which installs from the drive-side. It’s a press-fit bottom bracket the way it should be. This BB30A version is suitable for 24mm crank spindles (typically Shimano), or 24/22mm GXP.
Why It’s Better
The Module One casing eliminates the annoying creaking caused by poor-fitting two-piece bottom brackets. Its one-piece design prevents each side from moving in the frame independently under high pedalling loads, especially out of the saddle.
The very high-grade Japanese bearings sit in exacting alignment thanks to the single, precision-machined casing. This greatly increases their life and reduces frictional losses through misalignment. The Module One design also allows for straightforward access and replacement of the bearings when it’s eventually necessary, without the need to remove the bottom bracket module from the frame.
While the mechanical advantages of the Module One are simple, the machining process that makes them possible is not. This is a cycling component made the Formula One way, to extremely tight tolerances and using more costly processes to ensure superior precision.
Is it heavier than separate bearings that normally are pressed directly into a frame with a BB30A shell? Yes, but only by a mere handful of grams because it’s made from 6000-series alloy. When the real cost of going lighter is maddening creaking, we think blissful silence is worth a few extra grams.

Choice of Bearing Seals
|Contact (DD) Seals|
|Contact (DD) seals are better for year-round riding and lower maintenance because the seal is in contact with the inner race of the bearing. This makes it extremely difficult for contaminants like dust, dirt, and moisture to reach the inner parts of your bearing whilst doing an excellent job of sealing lubricants inside your bearing.|
|Non-Contact (VV) Seals|
|Non-contact (VV) bearing seals are recommended for racing bicycles that are regularly serviced. Non-contact seals do offer lower friction but are also a less robust barrier to dirt and water. They should be considered consumable-like.|

Module One Technology
Central to the Module One bottom bracket design is the single-piece aluminium casing which has the drive-side and non-drive-side bearing bores machined into it in only a one step process. This process means that the module does not require re-jigging during manufacturing and this provides a significant advantage when it comes to ensuring the bearings can sit in exacting alignment. When optimal bearing bore alignment is achieved, this greatly increases the bearing life and reduces unnecessary frictional losses that often occur through bearing misalignment.
- Ensure your bicycle's bottom bracket shell is free from obstructions such as cable guide screws protruding into the bottom bracket shell. Pre-check the shell dimensions for dimensions/tolerance.
- Installation and removal must be performed with the specific SN-Vitae installation tools.
- Installation MUST NOT and cannot be conducted with plastic end caps installed in the bearings. Remove the End Caps before commencing installation.
- Warranty will be void if there is evidence of impact, damage or use of a hammer/mallet during installation.
- It is advisable that all Module One bottom brackets are installed using retaining compound - not grease.
